Highland Institution is looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to join our team and lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud solutions on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform. The AWS Cloud Architect will play a critical role in driving our cloud strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture Design: Design scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud architecture solutions on AWS that meet business requirements and align with best practices and industry standards.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
Migration Planning: Develop migration strategies and plans to move on-premises applications and workloads to the AWS cloud, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
Security and Compliance: Implement security controls and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications on the AWS platform. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, scalability, and cost. Implement cost-saving measures and leverage AWS services to improve efficiency.
High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions on AWS to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime.
Automation and DevOps: Drive automation initiatives and implement DevOps practices to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and accelerate software delivery cycles.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and security, to provide technical guidance and support. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to foster continuous learning and improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure design, with a focus on AWS.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and others.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network security, and compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with migration of on-premises workloads to AWS using tools such as AWS Server Migration Service (SMS) or AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
